While most ergonomic advice focuses on chairs, the depth of your gaming desk plays a vital role in eye health and posture. Sitting too close to a large 27-inch or 32-inch monitor can lead to “computer vision syndrome,” characterized by eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision.

The ideal distance between your eyes and the screen should be about 20 to 30 inches (roughly an arm’s length). A deep gaming desk (with a depth of 75cm or more) is essential to achieve this. It allows you to push the monitor back while still having enough room for your keyboard and a large mousepad. If your desk is too shallow, a monitor arm can help by clamping to the back and extending the screen away from your face.

In a professional ergonomic gaming setup, your monitor should also be at a height where the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level. This prevents neck strain caused by looking up or down for extended periods. Combine a deep desk with a comfortable office chair to create a workstation that protects your health.
